Deedar’s brand name is related to prestige and also an energetic, yet innovative environment. A space of safe fun, that leads to the exchange of stories with friends the next day. The two owners, Amir and Babak Khameneh, had a vision to create a meeting place for the community they were surrounded by, where every night felt special. From dates, to parties, to relaxing nights with friends, Deedar, which in Persian means reunion, is somewhere to call a second home.
For the menu, the Khameneh brothers selected items that were traditional to Iran, but also some that they had grown to love in their over 30 years in Canada. The menu includes a selection of Kababs, Stews, Steak, Seafood, and Traditional ‘Sharing’ Dishes, All made from recipes they had perfected in their years working in the culinary business. One of the most prominent foods is the Shishliks: Grilled Lamb Rack, Plated with Rice, and Oven Baked Seasonal Vegetables. It won’t disappoint.
30 years in Toronto's culinary scene
Deedar is the vision of Amir and Babak Khameneh, who opened the Souvlaki house in downtown Toronto more than 30 years ago. Although the restaurant is no longer standing, it’s name and memory is well known among Persian food lovers, and the owners decided to create a new style of restaurant years later.
An urban environment meets the tradition of taking a minute and putting time aside to reunite, reconvene, and celebrate each other .
